Week #5 & #6

Aiden and I are obsessed with honeycrisp apples.  We buy a bag each shopping trip and hammer through them before the week is up.  We both comment how we only crave apples in the winter months - is this common or are Aiden and I just weird????

When I decided to take a picture per day of something inspiring or positive, I did not anticipate -34 degree real feel weather something that would warrant a photo of the day.  However, if you look closely at the picture you will notice the change in temperature toward the end of the week.  Sometimes in life, we have to look at the big picture and know that the discomfort of one day is temporary.

Game changer right here - mechanical colored pencils.  Well done Paper-Mate!

Regardless of the fact that Cheetos are completely fake and made with almost NO real foods, let's just take a moment to honor the Cheeto!  The label will tell you that one serving contains approximately 21 pieces and has 160 calories ----- who seriously would only eat 21 of these delights in one sitting?????
21, 42, 63, 84,105 or 126 Cheetos = 160 calories in my mind!

I love, love, love my Apple watch.  I unfortunately cracked the screen on my first one.  I seriously told Greg that without my Apple watch it was pointless to exercise because I couldn't record it and it did not count.  So, he generously shared some of his horse betting winnings so I could purchase a new one.

I am surely not the only one who feels this way about their activity tracker..... right??

I chaperoned the senior class trip to Rapid City and enjoyed a lovely moment at the WaTiki Water Park where I could take my shoes off and pretend it was summer for a moment.  At the indoor water park, the temperature remains at a constant 80 degrees.

The above mentioned seniors and I skied Terry Peak where it rained for a large portion of the day.  I have never skied in the rain before and it was actually quite fun.

This was the photo I shared with Greg when I was returning from the senior trip.  We arrived in Rapid City on Saturday to 60 degrees and we left Leed on Monday morning with -7 degree weather.   Clearly the bus didn't get the memo that the heater needed to blow hot air, so we all bundled up and made the 5 hour trek home with no heat.  Positive #1 - the kids and adult chaperones were real troopers and complained very little (minus me) and positive #2 - the one and only heater that was in working order was the bus drivers and he got us home safely despite the poor conditions.

A garage heater - when the weather reaches -20 actual temperature - this bad boy is pretty wonderful.

The life of a school counselor!  Planning next year's schedule is truly a nightmare and a task that almost seems unattainable.  Just when I think I have the schedule done, I have forgotten a class or have forgotten to give a teacher their prep.  UGH - as you can see from the picture, I have started several schedules and restarted and restarted numerous times.  With that being said, I am very grateful that I have a job that I love despite some of the challenging tasks.  I know that I cannot create the perfect schedule, but I will commit to making it as functional as possible for all students and staff.

The weather man continues to remind us that the next few days will bring ridiculously cold weather that will blanket the state.  I am sooooooo grateful I was born the 70's and the invention of indoor plumbing was well established.  Can you simply imagine having to use the bathroom at 4:00 am when it is -22 degrees???

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than the temperature in Dickinson, poor Medora was even a tad bit colder.  I sometimes have to wonder why, oh why do we live here?

Warm weather footwear is crucial where I live.  Instead of wearing them to and from my vehicle, I wear them all day long, whether indoors or out.  These Keen boots are my new favorites, super comfortable and functional all at the same time.

Thank you John Wilson for the best news ever.  Hallmark Christmas movies are super predictable and mostly the same love story, but so heartwarming at the same time.  There is no question will I 100% watch several of these during the spring, summer, and fall.  Thanks friend for thinking of me!
